Lady Lions knocked off by Shepherd 94-75 in WVIAC Tourney

The Concord Lady Lions traveled to Shepherd to take on the #7 seeded Rams in the 1st round of the WVIAC conference tournament only to fall on the road 94-75. Concord would struggle early shooting 37% from the field in the first half and was down by 21 points at the half 48-27. In the 2nd half Concord would fight back and cut the lead to as few as 8 points before ultimately falling to Shepherd. Concord would also outscore Shepherd by two points in the 2nd half 48-46 and Concord would outrebound Shepherd 34-31 on the game but it wasn't enough as the Lady Lions would fall 94-75 and their season would end.
Junior Sierra Brown would lead the Lady Lions with 29 points and 9 rebounds, Meghan Cole would score 15 points which came off of 5-9 from 3 point range. In her final game at Concord Senior Amber Showalter would score 12 points and pull down 11 rebounds in the Lady Lions defeat.
On Saturday before Concord would be eliminated in the WVIAC conference tournament the Concord Lady Mountains wrapped up the WVIAC conference regular season easily defeating cross-town rival Bluefield State 65-39 this past Saturday afternoon in Bluefield, WV. In the 1st half Bluefield State would keep the game close versus Concord as the Concord Lady Lions would lead the Lady Blues of Bluefield State by two 27-35 at the half. Midway thru the 1st half the Lady Blues would have a 7 point lead over the Lady Lions before Concord would go on a 9-2 run to go on top by two.
In the 2nd half the Lady Lions would continue to be on a roll as the Lady Lions would dominate the 2nd half outscoring Bluefield State by 24 points and Concord was able to hold Bluefield State to only 14 2nd half points as the Lady Lions would outscore the Lady Blues 38-14 in the 2nd half in route to a 26 point victory 65-39 over Bluefield State.
Concord would outrebound Bluefield State 47-27 and would shoot 25-54 for 47% on the night while holding Bluefield State to 27% from the field. The Concord Lady Lions were led by Senior Amber Showalter who would go 9-14 from the field and would have 21 points, to go along with a game high 11 rebounds for the double-double. Sophomore Meghan Cole would also add 21 points, Senior Cassidy Smith would add 9 points, and Freshman Jolysa Brown would score 7 points in the Lady Lions victory over the Lady Blues.
