The Concord University Music Department presents “Making a Scene” Thursday and Friday, March 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. in the foyer of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.
The performance will feature Concord vocal students portraying staged scenes from popular opera and light opera repertoire. The students will perform works by Donizetti, Mozart, Gilbert and Sullivan, Sondheim, Bernstein and others. The show will be narrated and conducted by Joshua Miller, director of vocal studies and assistant professor of music.
Miller described the performance saying, “An opera scenes program is a unique way to feature all of the wonderful talent that we have here at ConcordUniversity. Often times in an opera or musical theater production there are one or two lead roles. In a scenes program everyone gets their five minutes to play the lead role. This will be an excellent educational opportunity for the students and the audience.”
The performance will last about one hour and admission is free.
