Wow! It’s hard to believe that this semester is almost over. After fighting off a horrible disorder known as senioritis, as well as trying to balance the rest of my life with school, I feel as though I’ve reached the pinnacle.

In just a short time, our commencement exercises will be taking place here at Concord, but there will be one big difference this year. I won’t just be a spectator in the crowd. I will be a participant, walking across the stage, receiving my diploma, and maybe even jumping up and down for the entire audience to see.

December 19th will mark the last time that I have to drive to Concord, as well as close another chapter in my life. While it is a wonderful feeling to know that I have worked extremely hard for the last 4 ½ years to make it to this point, it’s also a little sad. College has provided many experiences for me, and it has walked every step of the way with me as well.

I got married during my second semester, I have moved three times, and I now have a beautiful eight month old daughter that is the world to me. All of this has taken place while I have been a student, and though it definitely adds to the challenges, it has also enriched the experiences.

For those of you who are just starting out on your college journey, a few words of advice. Always remember not to put off until tomorrow what can be done today. This is coming from a world class procrastinator!  Also, remember to make a little time for your self. Although homework may need finished, it won’t get there if you drive yourself crazy.

For those of you who have been here just as long or longer than I have, you know what I’m talking about. Some of you will miss this place more than others, and if you are like me, you’re counting the minutes until you are finished. Either way, college has been a trip.

I must say that I will miss writing this column each week. In a way, it has become my outlet for everything that drives me crazy, what makes me happy, and a way to share a little of myself with the world.

While I won’t miss making the 45 minute drive to Concord 3 or 4 times a week, especially in bad weather, I will miss the wonderful people that I have met, and the great friends that I have made.

Alas, it is time for the next chapter of my life to begin. While it has already been started, (marriage, kids, job, etc.) it will continue on for what I pray is a very long time. No more running back in forth in this book of life. To all those who read my column, thank you for your time. Hopefully I’ve been able to provide you with some insight, and maybe a few laughs.

To Concord, thank you! I never thought I would say it, but I mean it. The time has crawled but it’s been wonderful! To all of my friends, good luck in every endeavor that you tackle, and goodbye isn’t forever! May everyone have a very Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!
