"Sweating for Relay"

This spring, Relay for Life at Concord is holding exercise classes from 4:15 to 5:15 in the Ballroom on Mondays and Wednesdays until April.
It's a healthy and fun way to spend an hour, Relay for Life Event Chair Erin Clark said.
Relay decided to sponsor these classes because some women said Zumba was too fast. "Sweating for Relay" exercise classes are different because they are led by a Richard Simmons video with music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
It costs $2 to work out, and all proceeds to straight to Relay for Life.
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is an event to celebrate those who have fought cancer, to remember those lost to the disease, and to raise funds to fight back. In the event, people camp out and take turns walking or running around a track, with at least one participant on the track at all times. The relay is an overnight event, up to 24 hours, to illustrate the fact that cancer never sleeps.
The actual Relay for Life at Concord will be held on Friday, April 23. So far, Relay has 31 participants divided into nine teams. They have raised $740 for the American Cancer Society to date but are still hoping to collect more. To do so, Relay is also selling raffle tickets for a Valentine's basket complete with dinner, flowers, candy, glasses, and sparkling cider. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held on Feb. 12.
To participate in the relay, you can sign up online to either start or join a team. You need eight to 15 people, and each must pay a $10 registration fee. If you do not wish to participate but would still like to help, you can donate to a participant, to a team, or to the event in general.
Relay's next meeting is Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. in Room 401 in the Carter Center. For more information about the cause, contact Clark at 304-384-5277 or visit the event website at relayforlife.org/concorduniversitywv.
